Abstract:

Deterioration of concrete structures in sulfate environments is a well-known phenomenon. Cement chemistry is an important parameter in coping with sulfate ATTACK. C3A and CA (OH)2 lead to expansion, cracking and strength reduction. The use of rice husk ash (RHA) can improve the sulfate resistance of concrete. It was observed that the sulfate resistance of blended cements was significantly higher in sulfate environments. This study investigates the effect of RHA replaced by cement on the durability of concrete due to sulfate ATTACK. Three RHA replacement levels were considered in the study which is 7%, 10% and 15% by the weight of cement. After the specified initial moist curing period (28 days), concrete specimens were immersed in sodium sulfate & magnesium sulfate solution. The degree of sulfate ATTACK was evaluated by measuring the compressive strength reduction of concrete cubes and their weight losses in both continuous immersed and wetting-drying conditions. Expansion observed in the ordinary Portland cement mortar prisms was larger than expansion for the RHA mortar prisms. Moreover, microstructure of the mortar and concrete incorporating Rice Husk Ash were studied through SEM tests.

Abstract:

The blood-brain barrier (BBB) is a complex organization of cerebral endothelial cells. Deregulation of the BBB is among the earliest cerebrovascular abnormalities seen in multiple sclerosis (MS). Magnesium sulfate has been shown to have a protective effect on BBB integrity in multiple experimental models. Magnesium SULPHATE attenuates BBB permeability. Also, results of light microscopy and electron microscopy verified that magnesium sulfate can attenuate BBB injury. I suggest using of MgSO4 which attenuates BBB permeability during acute relapses of MS. The hypothesis should be assessed in several experimental and clinical trials. If my hypothesis can be verified experimentally and clinically, then using Mg SULPHATE to treat MS disease could be achieved.

Abstract:

This paper presents a detailed experimental study on SULPHATE ion ATTACK on ordinary, standard and higher grade concretes at early ages i.e. 7 days and 28 days. The main variable investigated in this study is percentage variation of fly ash. The cement is replaced by fly ash up to 40% at a regular interval of 10%. The compressive strength and weight loss were studied. Test results indicate that use of fly ash in concrete has improved performance against SULPHATE ATTACK in all the three grades of concrete. A simple empirical equation has been proposed to study the behavior of concrete under acid ATTACK using best fit method.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Background: Previous literatures have shown a transient ischemic ATTACK (TIA) mimic rate of 9-31%. We aimed to ascertain the proportion of stroke mimics amongst suspected TIA patients. Methods: A prospective observational study was performed in Ghaem Hospital, Mashhad, Iran during 2012-2013. Consecutive TIA patients were identified in a stroke center. The initial diagnosis of TIA was made by the resident of neurology and final diagnosis of true TIA versus TIA mimics was made after 3 months follow-up by stroke subspecialist. Results: A total of 310 patients were assessed during a 3-month period of which 182 (58.7%) subjects were male and 128 (41.3%) were female. Ten percent of the patients was categorized as a TIA mimic. The presence of hypertension, aphasia, duration of symptoms, and increased age was the strongest predictor of a true TIA. Migraine was the most common etiology of stroke mimic in our study. Conclusion: It seems that many signs and symptoms have low diagnostic usefulness for discrimination of true TIA from non-cerebrovascular events and predictive usefulness of any sign or symptom should be interpreted by a stroke neurologist.

Abstract:

Cooperative Spectrum Sensing (CSS) is an effective approach to overcome the impact of multi-path fading and shadowing issues. The reliability of CSS can be severely degraded under Byzantine ATTACK, which may be caused by either malfunctioning sensing terminals or malicious nodes. Almost, the previous studies have not analyzed and considered the ATTACK in their models. The present study introduces a new issue named ATTACK-aware CSS where the objective is to analyze the occurred ATTACK against CR network to ameliorate the performance of data fusion schemes. The novelty includes the modification of Weighted Sequential Probability Ratio Test (WSPRT) algorithm which resulted in ATTACK-Aware WSPRT (A2WSPRT). The findings indicated considerable reduction in cooperation overhead and enhancement in correct sensing ratio, especially in severe ATTACKs.

Abstract:

Effect of different levels of potassium SULPHATE and zinc SULPHATE on yield and yield components of corn (hybrid SC 704) was studied in 2003 at Shushter, college of Agriculture, University of Azad. Four levels of potassium SULPHATE (0, 250, 500 and 750 Kg/ha) and three level of zinc SULPHATE (0, 50 and 100 Kg/ha) were evaluated using a factorial design with randomized complete block design in 4 replications. Evaluation of results showed that biological yield (By), grain yield (GY), 1000 grain weight, rate and duration of grain filling were increased significantly when 50 Kg/ha zinc SULPHATE were applied, but the effect of K SULPHATE was non-significant on these characters. Effects of Zn SULPHATE, K SULPHATE and interaction between both on By were (18.89, 17.97 and 17.92 t/ha) and on Gy were (8.59, 8.0 and 9.98 t/ha) respectively. Maximum Gy, number of seed per row, number of grain in cob and 1000-grain weight was obtained with 50 Kg/ha Zn SULPHATE (8589 Kg/ha, 42, 477 and 252 gr) and with 750 Kg/ha K SULPHATE (8003 Kg/ha, 43, 517 and 288 gr) respectively. Among yield components, 1000-grain weight had high regression with Gy. However, use of 50 kg/ha Zn SULPHATE increased grain yield up to 27.6% in compare to control treatments.

Abstract:

Statins are commonly used drugs in the treatment of hyperlipidemia (HL), despite some undesirable side effects. These range from mild symptoms such as myopathy, muscle weakness and myalgia to severe muscle weakness associated with chronic myopathy and acute renal failure (ARF) as a result of rhabdomyolysis. The most serious and deadly side effect of statins is rhabdomyolysis. The case presented here is of a patient with rhabdomyolysis due to treatment with the antihyperlipidemic drug, atorvastatin.
